To begin a water/sewer service, new residents should visit the Village Office at 330 N. State St. The Village does require a $40.00 connection fee to begin service for residental owners and a $75.00 fee for those renting. This fee is refundable if you leave the Village owing no money. A copy of a current (unexpired) driver's license or other acceptable form of identification is also required.
Water is billed each month and does include a sewer use fee for those residences not on a septic system or living outside the Village limits. Residents moving within the Village should contact the Village office with change of address and service transfer.
We offer 4 ways for our residents to pay their water and sewer bills. If possible, include the smaller portion of water bill with your payment.
1. You may stop in the office at 330 N State St from 8:00AM to Noon each weekday morning.
2. You may mail your bill to the Village of Medon at PO Box 25.
3. You may place your payment in our secure drop box. If you are paying by cash, please use an envelope and include your name and the amount enclosed. Please include the smaller stub from your current bill if possible.
4. We offer an automatic payment system. Please complete the ACH form and return to the office. If you would like to take advantage of this service, your water/sewer payment will be automatically withdrawn on the 15th of each month.
Water bills are normally mailed by the 25th of the month. ALL payments are due to the office by noon on the 15th of the month following the reading date listed on your bill. IF YOU DO NOT RECEIVE A BILL YOU ARE STILL RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THE BILL BY THE 15th TO AVOID THE LATE FEE.
If you fail to make payment by the 15th you will be accessed a $10.00 late fee. The past due portion of your bill as well as the late fee must be paid by 8:00am on the 1st of the next month. If your past due bill is not paid by such time, your water service will be disconnected.
In order to restore service you must pay a $30.00 reconnection fee and pay your past due amount in full. For example, if your meter is read on May 18th you have until June 15th to make payment and avoid the $10.00 late fee. If you fail to meet this deadline, $10.00 is added to your bill and you are granted a delinquent period until July1st. In this example, if no payment is received by 8:00am on July 1st, your water service will be shut off. You must then come to the office to pay the past due portion of your bill and the reconnection fee before your service can be restored.
Remember that the office is open Monday -Friday (with exception of holidays) 8:00am - Noon.
